Cohibar Review

If you're looking for a cocktail with a view then Cohibar never seems to disappoint.

Set in the midst of Darling Harbour, Cohibar makes the perfect place for anyone in search of a refreshing drink after work or looking for a tantalising cocktail to soak away their worries.

I came here on Friday night with a friend around 8.30pm after having a gentle stroll around Cockle Bay, working off our pizza that we previously had in Helm Bar. We were in search of a bar for a chilled drink and stumbled across this one.

To get to it, you have to walk up the winding stairs and you arrive at the bar. There is an outside balcony area where you can sit and soak up the views, although this outside area is a smoking area. However there are also a fair amount of comfy seating inside too and a DJ plays on Saturday nights.

There was a good drinks list available full of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits; however we were eager for a refreshing cocktail to round up the evening. After spending about 5 minutes perusing the menu trying to work out what all the different spirits were and failing miserably I decided to go for one that had ginger beer in (I can’t remember the name of the cocktail now and it’s not on their website, but it was delicious!). My friend, Alice decided to go for the Lady Killer (Ketel One Vodka (Vanilla Infused) + Passionfruit + Cloudy Apple Juice + Vanilla + Orange Blossom).

Both drinks were equally refreshing, although Alice had to get another bartender to remake hers as it was very watered down, but this was re-done without any hesitation.

There were plenty of seats left and we managed to find a high table with stools outside. I was surprised it wasn’t busier for a Friday night, although when we arrived there was only one bartender and quite a crowd had gathered waiting for drinks, but we didn’t have to wait too long for ours and he made friendly conversation as we waited.

Overall, it makes a nice setting for drinks and is very laid back, with an upstairs lounge area for functions and is open 7 days until late. I will definitely be back for more cocktails as they were reasonably priced around the $17 - $20 mark, the same prices you can get in the city, but with a gorgeous view.
