September National Food Holidays Worth Celebrating

It may be Sourdough September, Shake Month, Honey Month, Chicken Month and Mushroom Month (way to go September!), but there are also plenty of other delicious foodie days that are calling my name! Just some of the days tempting my tastebuds right now include National Baby Back Ribs Day (3^rd September), International Bacon Day (4^th September), Salami Day (7^th September), National Double Cheeseburger Day (15^th September) and National Ice Cream Cone Day (22^nd September).

National Welsh Rarebit Day (3^rd September)

One of my absolute guilty pleasures, Welsh Rarebit, otherwise known as cheese on toast, is the perfect lunch or late-night snack.  Oozing with plenty of strong and bitey cheddar cheese, I love to add a splash of Worcestershire sauce on top for that extra touch of deliciousness. Sometimes, I may even add some spring onions, tomato or ham for an extra hearty meal.

World Samosa Day (5^th September)

Anyone for samosas? I absolute love a samosa with my Indian meal and it always reminds me of a foodie market in Bristol, UK during my first year of Uni and discovering freshly made samosas here (which were absolutely massive). These little fried triangle parcels of joy make the perfect snack or entrée, packed with potatoes, peas and garam masala.

Wienerschnitzel Day (9^th September)

You can’t beat ordering a wienerschnitzel, especially when you are in Austria. Translating to ‘Viennese cutlet’, this is one of Austria’s traditional and authentic dishes. This pan-fried veal cutlet, is fried in breadcrumbs, and typically served with a wedge of lemon and a potato salad. One of my absolute favourites!

National Linguini Day (15^th September)

I absolutely love linguini, especially with seafood at an Italian restaurant, whether that's a seafood linguini, spicy prawn linguini or linguini with mussels in white wine. You honestly can't beat it, served with a wedge of lemon and shavings of Parmesan cheese on top.

Pepperoni Pizza Day (20^th September)

Pizza, pizza, pizza! Who can resist a crispy thin-crust pizza, topped with plenty of mozzarella cheese and heaps of pepperoni! It always makes me think of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they devour on slices of pizza – yum!
